After much deliberation, we have decided to ride Honda Transalps to the Nordkapp. It is a cracking little bike and even though frankly, I have been more accustomed to something more powerful, this little 700c V Twin buzzes along very nicely. One test ride from Miles Kingsport was enough. Here's the first picture:
So far, I have fitted crash bars and 12v power socket. Aluminium panniers are ordered and should arrive soon. The info below is now a little out of date as I traded in the VFR for the Transalp and as my wife and I still needed a fast tourer, I traded in the CB1000R for a Triumph Sprint. So the stable has evolved......Anyway, both my exchanged bikes deserved a picture.
Until recently, I had a VFR 800, a CB1000R and DRZ 400 Enduro.
The VFR has been a good touring bike and has been my ride for the last two European trips. But I fancied something else for this trip. Its been fun thinking about which bike to ride on this trip but I finally settled on a Transalp. We need to be on similar bikes so that we settle in to a similar pace so Tim will be riding one too.
My last trip to the Arctic Circle back in 04 was on a Blackbird and without saying too much, the pace was not slow! As you can see from the photo, there was snow even in June and this was 1000 miles south of the Nordkapp! Maybe we should take it easier this time.
